6 Nov : Confession

I am all over the shop at the moment. It is as though I have stumbled and am having difficulty picking up the rhythm of everyday life again. It is probably a reaction from the Big Birthday Bash but I am not going to indulge myself for long because there are many things to do. Today I was invited to lunch in January which means Spring is just around the corner so unless I get those last bulbs in the ground there will be Bulb-aggedon. The Gaura is looking bedraggled and dripping onto our postie making him even more despondent so need to sort that out. Finally, my dream of a Hellebore border needs to be translated into action - they are not going to walk down the garden and dig themselves little holes. So I am going to write a List. It will be a thing of beauty with priorities and action plans and targets. There will be no more idleness.

  1. make sure you add "drink tea / wine " to the list, to reward yourself at the end.
there will be no gardening here today, it is raining like you wouldn't believe....

    1. Tea! Lots and lots of hot tea is definitely the way forward. And crumpets.

  2. You have beautifully articulated how I often feel, Alice. (I put it down to the dreaded h**mones.) But everything always feels a bit more organised and doable when you have a List and crossing things off is very satisfying. Go to it :-)

    1. It is a very long list and colour coded. Red for Urgent, Blue for Critical, Green for Essential.

  3. It's November Gloom. The Month Of Rot as we call it here. Necessary rot, but perhaps a time of quiet and waiting instead of action?

    1. I fear that a time of quiet and waiting is playing to my strengths. Sometimes you just have to get moving.

  4. I am sure that the feeling will soon disperse for you. Meanwhile, keep on listing.

    1. Tonight I am going to make a list of the lists otherwise the whole thing could get out of hand.

  5. Oh yes, I have a confession too (well loads of them if I am honest). The one your blog has moved me to is about pots full of geraniums which have not come inside and bags full of Peter Nyssen tulips, representing some spending of money, sitting on the floor by the kitchen window. Well it has been mild and now it is so damn wet...

  6. Wet?? When did a spot of rain stop Monty Don from rampaging around the garden in a delightfully manly way? I challenge you - the last one to plant all their bulbs is a sissy...
