27 Nov : Eden

Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden
Master of the Embroidered Foliage
(Active in Brussels 1480-1510)

my continued quest to gain design ideas from history...

Notes to Self:
Liking: water feature, standard apple tree, aquilegias and irises.

Not liking: creepy little chap in the background.

MrsM needs to grow hair.
MrM needs more practice balancing ivy leaves.

  1. Tragically, you also need a more Elizabethan forehead. Waxing, perhaps? And I could see the creepy little chap being fetching in a statuary format.

    1. A little creepy man could be quite alarming in a dark corner of the garden. I think that I would prefer a cherub or two.

  2. With its integral use of a serpent, this particular garden design may have long lasting consequences.

    1. Indeed. I think that the apple tree should have been pruned more effectively so that the fruit are out of reach. No foresight there.

  3. Why do Adam and Eve have belly buttons?

    1. I am flummoxed.

You have sent me into a spiral of doubt and a crisis of faith.

    2. Oh dear, that was not my intention, I was merely wondering if you knew the answer.

  4. Are those ivy leaves?
Thank you for the image of MrM and the leafbalancing which brightened my sunday enormously!

    1. I assume they are ivy but I am not looking too closely. I hope they are not holly.
