spring sunshine

Light Wash

It was sunny on my day off! I hung out the pillow cases and watched them blow on the washing line, drank a mug of coffee and listened to a blackbird in the holly tree, admired the dayglo pink camellia flowers, looked carefully at the green buds on the cherry tree, gloated over bold patches of daffodils by the summer house and thought briefly about cutting the grass before putting on my sunglasses and going for a spin in the car with the sunshine roof open. By the time I came home winter had left the building.

    1. I love the movement of the linen on the line which creates a sensation of warm air moving across the painting.

  2. I find it faintly ridiculous that I get pleasure the first time in the year when I dry the sheets outside. Sadly, my washing line doesn't look quite so romantic as this one.

  3. I love this painting and I love hanging washing on the line! Ours runs from an old cherry tree to an old apple tree and I love standing there pegging out washing and listening to the birds singing. There's something simple and straightforward about it which makes me happy.

  4. Mine goes on the Washing Pergola, which is appealing when there is no laundry.

  5. That picture has brought a lump to my throat. It could almost have been painted outside my first home, it even has Chum the dog by the washing basket!
