Does this count as a tree with lights? I don't know but I feel as though it represents the whole Christmas project which is spinning out of control this week. Planned work on our windows and doors was supplemented by an unexpected invasion of roofers. Downside : noise, draughts, dust, builders' mugs and biscuit crumbs. Upside : the wreath will look fab on the new front door and pigeons will no longer be able to fall down the chimney. In other news I have made the cake and bought the annual tin of Quality Street. We shall not starve.
I had to look up Quality Street, to be sure that the MrsM and family would be getting a balanced diet. And not only could I see that yes, I'm sure they will (the deep green and yellow ones are vegetable, I guess? And the red ones meat? Red and blue are fruits?) - but I also learned that a tin of Quality Street are such desirable foods that people resort to stealing them. Fortunately the thief was referred to as "he" so I don't have to worry that it was MrsM who ended up with the broken leg. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/quality-street-thief-breaks-leg-6979244
ReplyDeleteA tin of Quality Street chocolates is an essential part of Christmas. You only eat them once a year, mainly when you are already full of food, so you don't notice what they taste like. I love the clipping from the Mirror - that is a real #Xmas story.
DeleteOn balance then, it's going well :-) I definitely think this photo qualifies as Christmas Treeish.
ReplyDeleteIt did occur to me that if a pigeon can't get down the chimney how is Father Christmas going to manage? I might have made the ultimate Xmas error.
DeleteDefinitely - there's a tree and there are lights. Builders... I sympathise. We have had an ongoing issue with a flat roof and balcony for a year now. They came yesterday and it's nearly finished. Hoo-flipping-rah. I hope that all holes are plugged, all doors fitted and windows sealed in super-speedy time. My children would be very happy with cake and Quality Street and nothing else.
ReplyDeleteWe are our own worst enemies - why do we insist on meat, veg + fruit?
DeleteIt is good to know that you won't starve.
ReplyDeleteIf all else fails we can gnaw on leftover brussels sprouts. I think I ca safely say there will be plenty of those.
DeleteGah! Nearly forgot the Quality Street. Now we won't starve either. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteThere was a year when I forgot. It was not a Good Experience.
