19 Feb : Cosy

Friday afternoon

I have spent this afternoon on the sofa, reading and watching the daffodils unfurl. Also, chatting to The Little Boy Next Door who came to review the biscuit tin. I remarked on his new haircut and he explained that 'Mummy made a mistake when she cut the fringe so she had to cut more off'. I felt his pain. It has been a particularly busy two weeks with late nights, early mornings, and the house in various states of chaos but now I feel ready for the weekend. Exhale.

Thank you for your company and comments over the past two weeks. I wish you could join me here for a cup of tea beside the fire but instead I shall wander around Blogland and drop in to catch up with your news. Get out your tray cloths!

  1. That does look cosy. I have more tray cloths, table cloths and napkins than I know what to do with. Luckily I like ironing. In fact just call me Mrs Tiggy Winkle.

    1. Truly I think that you are the person that I aspire to be. Not only do you know when to prune shrubs and how to paint furniture - you love ironing!!

    1. It did feel very joyful to sit there in the quiet of the cottage next to a cosy log fire, reading a book. Such a peaceful afternoon is a very special treat.

  3. What bliss. I intend to do some of that tomorrow. I think it's due to rain, so I have daffodils and a tray cloth at the ready.

    1. If I can make a helpful recommendation - fill a hot water bottle and sit with it under a blanket. Even MasterM agrees this is the ultimate luxury. Don't panic - you can empty it out before the children get back from school and look efficient and grown-up.

    1. The extensive collection of tray cloths is the result of a short but intense relationship with Monsieur eBay.

    1. In your heart there will be a place where you always have a log fire, hot crumpets and a cheery bunch of daffodils.
