positive self-talk

Amaryllis grew 3mm overnight.

Have calculated that the EDF (*Expected Date of Flowering) is 24 October 2017.

Am getting well ahead for Christmas 2017 decor plans.

  1. My mother-in-law gave me an amaryllis bulb when she visited at Christmas. It's still in a paper bag... I've no idea what colour it will be so am slightly reluctant to do anything with it! When did you plant yours?

    1. I planted mine just after Christmas so this is a month's growth. I was very enthused by Sarah Raven's instructions and was expecting to nurture it all summer and have repeat flowering next year. In my dreams!

    2. Sarah Raven's indoor Narcissi have been a massive let down this year. Three flowers and the rest of the bulbs in a state of arrested development with about two inches of growth.

    3. I am afraid that the fault was mine in this case - I am too embarrassed to admit how long I thought about taking it out of the box before I actually did.

  2. I think you might need an excel spreadsheet to chart the growth.

    1. The growth is so slow that it would be a flat line unless the vertical axis is in μm.

  3. I have rescued mine from my garage and put some water in the pot, I think it should take about 8 weeks to flower (if I have remembered aright from the box).

    1. In that case there is going to be record breaking growth in the next four weeks.
